Graduate Project 2014

MAMUL RUKA  (original language is Mapuzungún meaning, wood´s house)
Wood children museum of Chiloé

Location:  Dalcahue ,Chiloé´s island, Chile.

Playful and interactive center focused on new generations, designed to protect and transcend the ontological meaning of Chilote Heritage and Culture.

The creation of this project originates and desires from the reinterpretation of the  Chile´s wood culture; heritage that today is in crisis.

Mamul Ruka would allow us to contribute, with a space that materializes a legacy such as wood in Chiloé, but from a playful and experiential perspective so that it is experienced directly; so that then that knowledge and experience can help the future with the new generations; regenerating, transforming and expanding in a genuine and spontaneous way as it has done throughout its life.

The project is mainly made up of 4 pavilions, the EARTH, WATER, WIND and AIR pavilions. Where the first two ascend in a spiral around the center, from the pavilion of fire to the pavilion of air.

Each pavilion responds to specific programs in an interactive and playful way for the infant.
